Findlay Market, built in 1852, is the oldest surviving municipal market house in
Ohio. The market is the last remaining among the many that once served Cincinnati.
It is located north of downtown in Over-the-Rhine, an historic neighborhood known
for its dense concentration of Italianate architecture.
Open Tuesday through Sunday, Findlay Market is home to an eclectic group of merchants
- butchers, vegetable growers, flower growers, bakers, small grocers and crafters.
Thousands of people (many of them regular customers) visit each week to shop for
meat, fish, poultry, produce, flowers, cheese, deli, and ethnic foods.
They also go to participate in the communal activities as they have been practiced
in Cincinnati for over 150 years. On Saturdays and Sundays from March thru December,
the Market hosts a farmers market, outdoor vendors, street performers, and special
events.
Findlay Market is the gathering place for people from all over the city. It routinely
attracts the most socially, economically, racially, and ethnically diverse crowds
found anywhere in Cincinnati.
We at Betina are proud to be a part of such a rich cultural heritage.
